Korede Bello, Nigerian singer and songwriter who was formerly a part of the Marvins Music record label has come out in Hip TV’s programme “Trending” to say that young artistes have reduced quality of music because they lack quality life experiences.
He said, “When you start to have young artists blowing up, the quality of the music starts to reduce because they don’t have quality experiences.
“They don’t know how to live yet. Young people don’t yet know how to live, they just know that they are living. They want to live large, so that’s what they’re going to sing about.
“If you listen to an African China, where he’s coming from, he has seen things. Timaya, Fela—all have experiences. Their songs are expressions of reality.
“We should not blame these young artists; you can only give what you have.”
The Godwin crooner, who left the label in 2021 after joining in 2014, added that he wanted to focus more on himself rather than continuously pursuing hit after hit.
In the TV programme he also said, “I was at a point in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, to do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect with my ‘why’.”
“Because I was at a stage where I started to feel like a product. I started to feel like something that was being sold, something that was just there [at Mavin Records] to make money. You lose sight of what matters when you chase after the next song, after the next hit, after the next whatever it is that can get you into the conversation. So a lot of artists are addicted to that circle.”
The talented music star just recently released his incredible EP he tagged, “Koreday EP” after much anticipation by music enthusiasts and fan. Do listen and enjoy.
