Singer Paul Okoye aka Rudeboy who was a part of the duo Psquare with his twin brother Peter Okoye popular know as Mr P shared some thoughts about his music career in a recent interview.
The Duo Psquare which started and rose to fame in the early 2000s has had quite a tumultuous run with the group splitting in 2016 getting back together in 2021 and splitting once again in 2024.
The spilt occurred because twin brother Peter accused him and their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye of diverting the group’s funds.
In this interview on Adesope live show, Rude boy shared that by now he ought to have retired if it was still the old way of doing music. He is of the opinion that combining the demanding life of a music star with being a family man is very tasking. He added that in the old way of doing music, musicians like him don’t stay active for long hence his opinions.
He said, “In the old ways of doing music, by now people like us suppose don retire.”
“There’s always a time for everything in life. Things will always happen. If you are a celebrity and you think people will always see you like an angel, trust me you’re not going anywhere. There are times that something would be against you. It’s always like that.
“Every top artist has had their share of criticisms and scandals. Even the up-and-coming ones, too, will suffer the same fate someday. It’s a normal thing [in the entertainment industry]. But what matters is your personality and how you handle issues.”
Psquare is an all time favorite to most millennials and early GenZ as we grew up listening to their music and trying out a lot of their choreography.
We wish both brothers well and are watching to see what’s next for them in their individual careers.
