Veteran Nollywood actors, Kanayo O Kanayo, and Fausat Balogun, popularly known as Madam Saje, will be receiving the “Lifetime Achievement Awards” at the 2024 Best of Nollywood (BON) event which is scheduled to hold between November 23 to 24, 2024, at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State.
They have been regarded as some of the best to have graced the Nigerian TV screens for their various contributions to the growth of the movie industry.
The BON Awards is dedicated to honouring filmmakers who have shown exceptional talent and creativity over the years.
The Executive Producer, BON Awards, Feranmi Olaoye, in a statement on Friday, said the veterans are “people we grew up watching and they deserve to be celebrated.
“They inspired the generation we watch now, and they still maintained their stand in the industry. That’s why we have chosen them as this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award winners.”
The Founder of BON Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, also stated that actors should not have to be appreciated only after their death.
“Why must we wait till our film heroes are dead to give them awards? Posthumous awards are good, but it is better the recipient is alive to receive the awards,” he said.
Some past winners of the awards include Pete Edochie, Jide Kosoko, Liz Benson, and Kareem Adepoju, (aka Baba Wande), among others.
