In a recent social media post Shallipopi, popular Nigerian artist announces he would be taking a break from smoking.
This was done during his vacation via a video on Snapchat.
Pluto presido crooner, Shallipopi announced that since he stopped he has been feeling much better and encouraged people who smoke to join him in this decision.
He said, “No be everytime you go dey smoke igbo, sometimes take a break. I am on break now. I am feeling good.”
Alot of top Nigerian celebrities, including Tonto Dikeh, Don Jazzy, Terry G, Faze, Dr Sid and Kizz Daniel have announced quitting smoking in the past.
However, some of them later made a U-turn, with Terry G and Kizz Daniel confirming on their respective social media pages that they have returned to the habit.
Quitting smoking earlier in life yields greater health benefits however it is beneficial to the health at any age. Even people who have smoked for many years or have smoked heavily will benefit from quitting.
Some of the benfits among many include improved health status, enhancement in the quality of life, reduction in the risk of premature death as it can add as much as 10 years to life expectancy.
It also reduces the risk for many adverse health effects, including cardiovascular diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cancer, and poor reproductive health outcomes.
